USB Cable 3.0 support faster transfer rate 5Gigabits per second (Gbps), which is ten times greater than the transfer rate 480Mbps of USB 2.0 cable.

Besides the original four pins of USB 2.0, the USB 3.0 cable includes five more pins--two differential pairs plus one ground. The added two differential pairs are for bi-directional data flows and supporting dual simplex SuperSpeed signaling; the added ground pin is for managing signal integrity and EMI performance.

SuperSpeed USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0. USB 3.0 maintains the extensive device class driver infrastructure of USB 2.0, and a USB 2.0 devices will work via a 3.0 cable.

SuperSpeed USB 3.0 provides greater power efficiency so that it shouldnt be so draining on your power (this in particular affects laptops) as well as an increase in power output from 100mA to 900mA.
